I spot-checked quite a lot of Alder leaves around Whitlingham today, finding Pterocallis alni on several. Unlike P. maculata, this species is not ant-attended and is usually found scattered across the leaf rather than in groups. #NorwichAphids

I assume this species is fairly common but overlooked - Pale Hogweed Aphid, Paramyzus heraclei (influentialpoints.com/Gallery/Para...) at Whitlingham C.P. today. It feeds on the underside of Hogweed leaves, but handily creates this yellow mottling on the upperside. New for my #NorwichAphids list.
A new aphid for me (and my Norwich aphid list) this evening, Capitophorus similis on Butterbur. A fairly distinctive species when found on this host, being pale with a bristly appearance, long, thin siphunculi and a tongue-shaped cauda. #NorwichAphids
This morning's walk into work was livened up when I noticed a Common Sandpiper along the river edge at Wensum Park, and I also managed to find a new aphid species, Yellow Buttercup Aphid (Tubaphis ranunculina) on the underside of a Creeping Buttercup leaf. #NorwichAphids
