I was a bit far away to get a clear photo, but watched as this male #NorthernFlicker flew and landed on the other side of the Concord River (Concord, Mass. - 9/11/26) 😍🤎🪶

A male Northern Flicker with a tan face, black mustache, gray crown, and a red crescent on the back of the head, brown back with narrow black bars, black crescent/bib on the upper chest, and heavy black spots on a whitish/tan belly. This bird had been calling and flying along the Concord River, then landed on a brown snag of a tree on the opposite side of the river. There were green leaves and brown branches around the base of the snag, and a pale blue sky above. Seen at Great Meadows NWR in Concord, Massachusetts.
