@fiftymusic.bsky.socialOn 16 Sep 2008: #NormanWhitfield, American songwriter and producer for Motown ("I Heard It Through the Grapevine"), died at 68.
#RIP 🪦
@fiftymusic.bsky.social"Car Wash" is a song by the American #soul and #RAndB band #RoseRoyce. Written and arranged by the ex-#Motown producer #NormanWhitfield, the song was the group's first single and one of the most notable successes of the 1970s #disco era. "Car Wash", the theme of the 1976 film Car Wash.
@jckaelin.bsky.socialI post this annually on 9/3 because... #OTD #TDIH #September3: #PapaWasARollinStone by #NormanWhitfield & #BarrettStrong, recorded by #TheTemptations: " #ItWasTheThirdOfSeptember | That day I'll always remember, yes I will | 'Cause that was the day that my daddy died". #Motown #Soul #Blues
