October 4th is the National Day of Action. We honour MMIWG2S+ lives, legacies, and survivors, and demand the full implementation of the 231 Calls for Justice and the National Action Plan to End Violence Against Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people.

Indigenous people make up roughly 4% to 5% of Canada's overall population, yet Indigenous women and girls represent 16% of all female homicide victims.”On a black background, bold white and red text reads, “In August 2016, the Government of Canada launched the independent National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. On June 3, 2019, the Inquiry released its Final Report, ‘Reclaiming Power and Place,’ which outlined 231 Calls for Justice directed to all levels of government, industries, institutions, and Canadians.”On a black background, bold white and red text reads, “In response to the Final Report, the 2021 MMIWG2S+ National Action Plan: Ending Violence Against Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ People was released on June 3, 2021. Since the National Inquiry’s Final Report was released, minimal progress has been made in supporting and implementing the Calls for Justice for MMIWG2S+.”
