
Drought continues to improve across New Mexico!
The latest Drought Monitor shows big improvements since September's heavy rain.
Exceptional Drought is gone, Extreme and Severe Drought have shrunk, and Bernalillo County is now mostly in Moderate Drought.

⚡ Pretty cool stat: New Mexico had cloud-to-ground lightning somewhere in the state for 101 straight days this year!
That’s the 3rd longest streak since 2010. The record is 129 days. The 17 year average is 77 days in a row. #NMwx

I took the chairlift at Ski Santa Fe this weekend to check out the leaves, and there’s definitely some moderate to high color showing up.
I’d expect peak fall color from now through about the middle of October! #NMwx

In New Mexico, the snow is especially easy to spot across the Truchas Peaks and the Taos Mountains.
🌧️ WHAT A FINISH to the 2026 monsoon in New Mexico!
Most of this year’s rain fell in the final 2.5 weeks of September.
NM finished with its 19th wettest monsoon on record. Santa Fe had its wettest on record, while Albuquerque had its 13th wettest!
