This is an old piece from 2020 that never felt finished; I worked over it w/ new marker colours & paint.

The writing is me being pedantic. Samhain is Nov. 1. 😉💜

A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of five mice sitting on three big pumpkins under the full moon. The pumpkin in front is carved, with text that says “Happy night before Samhain” in bad Gaelic (“Oíche Shamhna Sona”), set in a yellow glow.
(Samhain is November 1, just like Beltane is May 1. Halloween is the night before Samhain. I’m being silly and tongue in cheek pedantic.)
The pumpkins are arranged one in front, the other two behind on either side. There is a brown mouse on each pumpkin, the back two facing left and right, the one in front sitting cross-legged, head tilted to the left, looking at the viewer. There are two more mice on the left and right ground beside the front pumpkin, heads facing right and left.
The background is light grey flat moonlit ground, with shadows in front of the pumpkins. The night sky is full of stars, the moon top center.
