We asked DCR about the overdue #NeponsetTrail detour by Boston Bowl in Dorchester. “Unfortunately, there was an unforeseen delay and they hope the project will wrap-up in November.”

Come to Pope John Paul 2 Park along the #NeponsetTrail on Saturday, October 10 to learn about monarch butterflies and their milkweed habitat with @neprwa.bsky.social and @massdcr.bsky.social !
Getting across Blue Hill Avenue is a challenge. We rode across the river to the #NeponsetTrail crosswalks in Milton, then continued along that trail to Dorchester. We hope to see Boston and the MBTA add a better crosswalk in Mattapan Square.
The #NeponsetTrail construction detour from Conley Street to Imprint in Dorchester has been in place for about five months now. But the protective wooden panels have been removed so hopefully the detour will end soon.
Plans just released by Boston and the MBTA would create a new pedestrian and bike crosswalk to connect to the #NeponsetTrail & Mattapan Station across #BlueHillAve, saving multiple road and lane crossings. TBD is a possible bikeway detour around Mattapan Square on Woodhaven Street & CumminsHwy.
The Cummins Hwy bike lanes form one link in a regional network. The Milton Bike Committee, MAPC, NepRWA and MassDOT have been working on plans for other multi-use paths connecting to the Blue Hills and further out to Randolph.

A related goal of the #GoBoston2030 plan was to create a safe multi-use path connecting from Franklin Park and the Southwest Corridor Path to the Milton town line, and coordinate with state and town plans - including the #NeponsetTrail - to link to the 7000-acre Blue Hills Reservation and beyond.
