Prize of #MySwim yesterday in Reach Lode was near collision with monster 5cm Great Silver Water Beetle (Hydrophilus piceus). As I got in, met White-spotted Groundbug. But this Lode, dominated by Waterlily-Leaf -Beetle-munched water-lilies, as monotonous as Burwell Lode, which it joins, is diverse.

Returning to Elberry Cove, 3 years later, on 26 June, delighted to witness this argy-bargy between 2 Montagu’s Blenny (Coryphoblennius galerita), the unicorns of the #UK blenny world, having only a single fleshy flap as head adornment, now spreading N & E from SW stronghold. #Fish #blenny #MySwim 🧵
