It seemed no time at all before she heard Pierre’s key in the lock. She rushed through to the entrance hall and flung herself in his arms. “Oh, chéri; I am so glad to see you!”
He drew her close, and stroked her hair. “And I you. Is all well?”
“Of course, my love. Only … there was a man came by this afternoon.”
“A man? What did he want?”
