@woodee.bsky.socialKorn - Korn (1994)
Bagpipes? In a metal tune? Probably one of the first songs I heard on a metal radio station. Along with a few tunes on film soundtracks.
I don't know if this album differs a lot from their others, but it's clearly dealing with painful past.

@woodee.bsky.socialSoundgarden - Badmotorfinger (1991)
The first Soundgarden album I bought, still have it on cassette tape. I think at the time I knew nothing about them, just knew they were in the grunge genre.
Played the next albums so much through my college years.
Chris Cornell (RIP)
@woodee.bsky.socialMarilyn Manson - Antichrist Superstar (1996)
This album hit me like a ton of bricks! Played it a lot during college, bit of shock rock.
I remember falling asleep to it then getting woken up by the hidden track at the end, nightmares!

A stunning 2nd album which came not long before I finished school. A change in drummer from the first album, Mark Richardson.
A good mix of hard rock and some ballads. Standouts for me are: "Infidelity (only you)" and "Hedonism"

@baselpeaceforum.bsky.socialThe song honors the 1914 WWI Christmas Truce, when soldiers paused a war to find common ground and play football in No Man's Land.

@rommana.bsky.social@woodee.bsky.socialFrankenweenie (2012)
When Danny Elfman and Tim Burton collaborate it always ends up in something dark. Along the lines of Corpse Bride this animation was similarly dark, but fun.
@woodee.bsky.socialR.E.M. - Automatic For The People (1992)
Famous for one song? Everyone has probably heard the ballad "Everybody Hurts" and had a good cry.
But it's not all downbeat.
"Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight" and "Man On The Moon" stand out for me.
@woodee.bsky.socialJoe Satriani - Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards (2010)
There generally isn't a bad Satriani album. They provide good rock background music, many songs giving a shuffle vibe.
Slowly but surely collecting his back catalogue, but this doesn't necessarily stand out.

@woodee.bsky.socialBlade Runner 2049 (2017)
A film I have STILL yet to watch! Think I even have the blu-ray which I got for free with buying some hardware.
The original was a classic with Vangelis. This one by Hans Zimmer, and I can't really go wrong with a soundtrack by him so....
@woodee.bsky.socialDream Theater - Awake (1994)
In the early 2000s a work colleague says "You like drums right? Listen to this...". From the first drum fill of "6:00" I was pretty much hooked!
This lead to over 20 years of buying all albums and watching them live every tour! Classic album!
@woodee.bsky.socialSchool Of Rock (2003)
I think any film that Jack Black stars in, is worth seeing at least once.
Good mix of rock and punk on this soundtrack plus Jack Black himself with some very talented kids!
