In the shallow sea over late #Cretaceous Europe, A pair of Mosasaurus lemonnieri begin to rip apart a subadult Phosphorosaurus ortliebi they’ve just caught. Inspired by a brand new study on a bonebed of this noodly Mosasaurus, which also revealed the new #mosasaur genus Thoraxion! #sciart #paleoart

A pair of long-bodied, bright yellow and tan colored Mosasaurus lemonnieri swim parallel to each other, one upright and one swimming on its side just below it, with a much smaller Phosphorosaurus held in both of their toothy jaws.

Orcinus amongst the Lemons

Meet Thoraxion tahlequahae, a newly described genus of mosasaur from Late Cretaceous Belgium.

The species name of Thoraxion, tahlequahae, was named in honor of a particular Orca named Tahlequah (J35).

#museummonday a model of Tylosaurus. From the Sternberg Museum of Natural History at the university in Hayes. As you've probably heard it has been threatened with closure. Hopefully with all the outpouring of support that won't happen.

#fossilfriday Everyone is telling me I should do a book on Texas fossil vertebrates. So here is one of them. This is Tylosaurus rex, a giant mosasaur from Texas. On display at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Dallas.
