Monument Valley seems bigger than life in person. I wanted this painting to capture the wide expanse of the desert sky and the feeling of being completely immersed in the landscape. I used thick brushstrokes of oil paint laid side-by-side without overlapping to capture the movement and majesty of the scene.

Last day of the road trip!

Started off with the scenery - and if you've seen Forrest Gump, this road might look familiar.

Then one last Utah photo before crossing into Arizona.

Utah really went all-out on its welcome sign. Arizona… not so much.
