Between Stops
A modern fae, wings tucked behind her while the human world rushes past.

A painterly fantasy scene shows a young fae seated sideways beside a large rain-streaked window in what appears to be a modern public transit or urban waiting area. She occupies the left half of the composition, leaning forward slightly with one knee raised while holding a smartphone in both hands. Tangled dark hair is gathered into a loose, messy bun, with damp curls falling around her face and pointed ear. A white wireless earbud sits in her ear. Large translucent insect-like wings extend behind her, their pale blue-green membranes veined delicately and catching the soft light from the window. Her clothing mixes fantasy and contemporary streetwear: a weathered green jacket decorated with patches and small objects, layered bracelets, distressed earth-toned fabrics, patterned leggings, and worn high-top sneakers. A takeaway coffee cup with a black straw rests near her feet. Beyond the wet glass, blurred human figures stand or walk through a softly illuminated urban space. Warm golden light glows through the rain and contrasts with the muted greens and browns of the fae’s clothing and wings. The loose brushwork, textured surfaces, reflections, and hazy background give the ordinary modern setting the feeling of a fleeting magical encounter.
