Just like humans have their own follicle mites, this species completes its entire lifecycle thanks to dogs’ skin. On a dog with a weaken immune system, this mite can cause demodicosis. Size: roughly 200µm of body length Time period: Holocene (present day) Conservation status: Least concern/Near threatened The animal drawn looks like a worm with 8 stuby legs at the front

This species is one of the few terrestrial chelicerates native to Antarctica, all of them being mites living in rocky costoal areas. It belongs to some of the most ancient mites lineages. Size: around 0,25mm of mean body length Time period: Holocene (present day) Conservation status: Least concern/Near threatened The animal drawn is a mite looking a bit like a ball with small legs and numerous hari-like projections
