New study combined #eDNA #metabarcoding with #community_science to explore #pond #biodiversity! Sampling revealed extensive diversity across multiple groups, highlighting ponds as important urban biodiversity refuges.

🧬 New study uses #DNA #metabarcoding across 59 sites to ask why some aquatic insects are more common than others. Widespread species had greater genetic diversity overall, but local species & genetic diversity weren't linked, pointing to gene flow and species sorting as key drivers.
