The half-timbered early 16th century ‘Pitchmarket’ at Cerne Abbas in Dorset. The name derives from the market which was once held outside the house, where millers would ‘pitch’ for corn. 📸 My own. #MedievalMonday #CerneAbbey #Dorset

St John the Baptist's Church, Chester

For #MedievalMonday - a medieval oak coffin inscribed with the words "Dust to Dust". It was discovered in the 19th century and set high in the church ruins. #Chester

St Laurence Church, Ludlow Shropshire.

In 1540, John Leland described the church as “very Fayre and large and richly adorned and taken for the Fayrest in all these parts”. This sentiment still holds true as you can see by the crossing.
If you've not been, it's well worth the trip.

Looking up at the crossing of St Laurence Church. The 4 arches of perpendicular style frame the central square. This itself has a vaulted ceiling.

Lynchets and hedgerows, remnants of strip fields at Chillerton #IsleofWight, #MedievalMonday

View from north end of Chillerton Down looking southeast towards the other side of the valley where there are horizonal hedgerows and lynchets along the hillside forming narrow strip fields. Far views beyond to Stenbury Down.
