My latest peice for @thetonearm.com; I had the great pleasure of speaking to Brett Bullion about his new deep glens album, Carver.

I shared an example of the dynamic loading of `poly~`—using the three distortion effects from the `abl.dsp` suite—in the general channel of Max's Discord. Happy patching.

I have a little bit of space left, so I'm going to try to fit in a few output effects. But everything is working: presets are fine, the Extra 2 input is routed to the drum sampler, and patch colors are customizable.

+ 2 bpatchers to follow. Using the "extra2" step sequencer, I can add movement to the synths. I’ve also added the abl.device.drumsampler~ which I’ll need to open in "extra2" as well—and I’m going to try out a preset system to see how it responds🫣
#sebairstein #maxmsp thanks @cycling74.bsky.social ❤️
One bpatcher later, we're going to add some bleeps and beeps to Bluesky—it's more fun that way 🙃
#sebairstein #maxmsp Thanks @cycling74.bsky.social ❤️
I'm currently patching around abl and Meld, and I've learned how to dynamically load a poly~ inside another poly~. In this case, it involves the three distortion units I placed at the output of the Meld oscillator before feeding the signal into the filter. I really like it.

Hi, I thought a Fender Rhodes sound would give me a clearer idea of the system's musicality. I added the option to trigger one of the nine chords on Extra1. I set it to the Hendrix chord, and it was a blast, a really joyful, groovy moment.

🎧 WED 9/23, 11AM PT: Scottish artist Ruaridh Law joins us for Office Hours.
For over 20 years, Ruaridh has used unique real-time custom performance interfaces to explore the role of sound in storytelling across a wide range of mediums.
Okay, it's a start, but it's really cool. By integrating live.steps, I can better visualize how the notes are distributed along my additive line. Plus, I get velocity and duration—and even two extra parameters on top of that. 😀HappyPatchingDay🙂

I worked on a vertical interface for abl.device.drift~ and wanted to test it with my latest Omnichord XYZ system.

Max running a random generative patch of various custom built modules. I apparently like making colorful UI for them. This would look even better in a proper presentation. I think this turned out pretty nice, sonically.. #random #generativemusic #maxmsp

this is a CD I released thru the Poverty Electronics label.
it was a document of my live max/msp improv work at the time. all audio created live via #maxmsp .
disintegrated rhythms + industrial noise idm type jams.
it is weird.
My soon to be released M4L device.
Here showing a snare drum engine.
(The fun is here when I start to work on the engines instead of the system logic)
