A tiny orange and red seahorse amid fronds of seagrass, painted onto the glass of a fountain pen converter, rarely visible to anyone but the owner. The whole pen is shown; its barrel and cap have tiny pieces of seashell from the inner iridescent pearl layer inlaid into lacquer, in the technique known as raden.

Detail of the painted seahorse and seagrass.
