#SilentSunday #UrbanPhotography #MagicInTheMundane

A close-up of a corner of asphalt on a rainy day, partially submerged in a centimeter of rainwater, with a single weed with a lot of determination growing in a very inhospitable environment; the reflection of its shadow in the puddle is more in focus than the weed itself

the swanniest squash I've ever seen, love it or hate it (my friend HATES swans with a fiery passion)

#MagicInTheMundane #Squash #Pumpkin #Swan

A curious squash found in the "mini pumpkins" bargain bin at Local Grocery Store, orange with an extremely long neck wrapped back around toward the base shaped EXACTLY like a swan's neck, reinforced by a patch of dark green on the end for eyes, and a bit of stalk resembling a beak. I honestly felt pretty bad looking at the rest of the bin; it looked like the results of hundreds of failed genetic experiments, lots of tortured Frankenstein souls.

#MagicInTheMundane #Glass #Mountains #PNW #Moss

A close-up of a cluster of rough medium-sized glacier-carved pebbles, ashen in color, into which blends remarkably well a similarly sized and shaped chunk of jagged clear glass, which I only noticed as it briefly caught the sun at one angle. Still pretty to look at (if not to step on), the way it blends so seamlessly into its environment like it's trying to make friends in a new neighborhood. Also in the lower right corner, a quite-dried out cluster of dark green alpine moss, which will probably poof out again once it gets access to some water.

Some days there’s #MagicInTheMundane.

#photography #phonephotography

The base of a patterned water glass is visible at the center top of the picture, sitting on a light-colored tile surface. The glass casts a hard shadow toward the camera, extending to the base of the photo at each lower corner.

In the middle of the photo, vibrant patterns of light scatter across the shadow and spill onto the brightly lit tile surface.

#MagicInTheMundane #Pattern #Patterns

a plain ol' boring plastic water bottle sitting on a wooden post in someone's back yard trailer, but if you zoom in to full resolution, the lower half is filled with flowing curves of the bottle's shape that refract and warp the image of the surrounding scene, with a few tiny air bubbles, while the top portion is coated on the inside with condensation in a pattern that resembles frost

#MagicInTheMundane

A nearly black-and-white photo shows two sets of mud and concrete encrusted boots and work pants facing each other under a pedestal table at a deli attached to a gas station. The floor is white tiles. The boots are worn and have the feeling of hard and dirty work.

an unexpected ecosystem, or maybe an urban whale fall, or maybe my morbid fascination with even garbage leads to #MagicInTheMundane moments not shared by many, but still equally intriguing to me as the nature scenes

#UrbanPhotography #StreetPhotography #Garbage #Snails

A close-up of a discarded plastic Haggen's Deli Sandwich box on the street. The half-eaten sandwich is vaguely visible inside, and while likely in a state of rot, is thankfully obscured by the condensation on the inside of the lid. The predictable scouting crew of exploratory ants has made their appearance, but (most interestingly to me) a SNAIL on the outside as well!
