I’ve found it pays to be sceptical: never trust anything that looks simple from a distance.

Red clover is a good example. Get closer and the flower head becomes wonderfully complicated.

A vibrant pink red clover blossom (Trifolium pratense) in sharp focus at the lower center, showcasing a dense, spherical cluster of tiny, elongated pinkish-purple tubular petals. Small green leaves sprout directly beneath the flower head. The background is softly blurred, showing numerous other pink clover flower heads and blades of green grass scattered throughout a lush meadow.

Having a greenhouse, even a small plastic one, really opens up your options for late and early season gardening. I keep my cacti in one spring to autumn then put my potted dahlias in there when I bring my succulents in for the winter 🌱🌵🪴

"Can you have neon outside a light? Sure, if you have a handy Telsa coil nearby. At a Sci-Fi convention from a few years ago, a demonstration of fluorescence. Info in alt text as always." -mick
#Photography #MickPic #WCK #ECK #31DaysOfHalloween

Fluorescent tube lights glow near a Tesla coil because of the powerful wireless electromagnetic field it creates.
When the Tesla coil is active, it generates a high-voltage, high-frequency electric field in the surrounding air. This field is strong enough to interact directly with the gases inside the fluorescent tubes.
How it Works
• Gas Ionization: The intense wireless electric field forces the electrons inside the tube's low-pressure gas (usually mercury vapor and argon) to separate from their atoms, creating ions.
• Ultraviolet Light: As these free electrons collide with other gas atoms, they excite them. When the atoms return to their normal state, they emit invisible ultraviolet (UV) light.
• Visible Glow: This UV light hits the phosphor coating on the inside of the glass tube, causing it to fluoresce and emit the bright, visible light you see—all without any wires or physical connection to a power source.
