The Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse with the Mackinac Bridge in the background. Ther lighthouse has a round tower with a black lantern. There is a black railing around it. The top of it is seen behind the lighthouse, a two-story keeper's quarters made of Cream City brick. There are three chimneys. On the left side of the house there are two windows on each floor and a hedge that crosses that portion of the house. A door and window are visible on the right side of the house. The building has a red roof and a red awning above the door. In the photo much of the right side of the building is covered behind a tree. The foreground of the photo shows a well-manicured green lawn, a tree. and sidewalks. Just behind the house and to the right there are people behind a white picket fence looking out toward the Straits of Mackinac in the background, with the Mackinac Bridge crossing the straits. The bridge is a long suspension bridge with two tall white towers. It arches a bit between the two towers. Above everything is a light blue sky with several white clouds.

An estimated 34,000 people participated in the #MightyMacWalk26 today, on the upper end for turnout in recent years, which has ranged from 21,000 to 35,000 since 2018. About 33,000 walked the #MackinacBridge in last year’s event.

Thousands of people walk on a big bridge.

Today water protectors and allies gathered at the #MackinacBridge, led by the Three Fires Confederacy, joining together in ceremony on both sides of the Straits to say: #GreatLakes waters are sacred and must be protected.
