The light from M33, the Triangulum Galaxy, left its stars about 2.7 million years ago, when the earliest members of our genus lived in East Africa and northern ice sheets began to grow. Some of its blue giants may no longer exist. #M33 #galexies

🌌 M33, the Triangulum Galaxy (NGC 598), lies in Triangulum at RA 01h 33m 51s, Dec +30° 39′ J2000, about 2.73 million light-years from Earth. It is an SA(s)cd spiral inclined about 55° to our line of sight, spanning 70.8′ × 41.7′ on the sky, more than twice the Full Moon, which at this distance corresponds to roughly 56,000 light-years across.

Göteborgs Spårvägar.
Just a short vide from my seat in a tram. The stop is at Östra Sjukhuset. This was some ear before my short career at Göteborgs Spårvägar.

M33 The Triangulum Galaxy - telescope processed image. It ranks as the third-largest galaxy in our Local Group behind Andromeda and the Milky Way, housing roughly 40 billion stars within its spiral arms.M33 The Triangulum Galaxy - unprocessed image. It hosts NGC 604, one of the largest known H II star-forming regions in the Local Group—over 40 times larger than the famous Orion Nebula.
