@amazingchrisgodbey.bsky.socialToday's #lunchtimereading is #Popeye The 60th Anniversary Collection!
Been on a bit of a Popeye cartoon kick lately, and was very interested in seeing how the original version of the character and his world differed from what I'm used to.
Fun stuff so far!
@amazingchrisgodbey.bsky.socialToday's #lunchtimereading, courtesy of my local library, is Fantastic Four: Full Circle.
It's a sequel to a classic Lee/Kirby story, with Alex Ross' artwork being STUNNING, and his writing capturing the feeling of an old-school FF tale perfectly.
@lordwoolamaloo.bsky.social#LunchtimeReading : continuing the fascinating Lo! An Amazon by my chums @eyedotter.bsky.social & @bryan-talbot.bsky.social , & pondering the similarities between UK govt crackdown on "dissenters" during the French Revolution period, & the ridiculous restrictions on Palestine Action today ..
@lordwoolamaloo.bsky.social#LunchtimeReading : always delighted to have new @eyedotter.bsky.social & @bryan-talbot.bsky.social to read: Lo! An Amazon, a graphic biography of Mary Wollstonecraft, pub by the fine @selfmadehero.bsky.social crew
@amazingchrisgodbey.bsky.socialToday's #lunchtimereading is The Celebrated Cases of Dick Tracy!
I didn't read much of it today, because the musty smell of this 56-year-old book was affecting me a bit.
I'll have to get some baking soda and try it after that.
@amazingchrisgodbey.bsky.socialToday's #lunchtimereading is Classics of Western Literature, by Berke Breathed!
A "best of" collection of the latter half of Bloom County's original run, it's still very much a product of its time.
But I'm still enjoying it quite a bit!
@lordwoolamaloo.bsky.social#LunchtimeReading : The Shape of Monsters, by my chum @clhellisen.com , coming 24th September from @torbooks.bsky.social .
I have to be nice about this book, or Cat will beat me fiercely with her ice skates ⛸️
