A liminal punt up the Don River.

Directly north of Biidaasige Park, the Don is encased in concrete & surrounded by road infrastructure.

Hostile, sterile & foreboding. This is the industrial Don, a river stuck out of time. Imprisoned by the sins of past improvements.

learn about the #Toronto Vale of Avoca Ravine Improvements project at a drop-in open house on October 7 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Deer Park Public Library

use caution when taking the steps leading down from Mount Pleasant Road to the Yellow Creek ravine -- they're tricky (but not as bad as the stairs in Chorley Park that were replaced by the switchback)notice of the Vale of Avoca Ravine Improvement Project posted next to the steps down into the ravine, beside the speed limit sign on Mount Pleasant Rd which says 40 but that's really only a suggestion, because that stretch of road is designed to be safe at 80

Trail furniture.

The despoilment of natural spaces in the city never ceases to amaze me. Thought these dumped trail couches does add some quirky character to the area they inhabit.

An almost living room vibe in the bush.

A couch dumped in the hydro corridor.Deep in the Don Valley lies a couch in need of a rest.

before the storm hit yesterday, catching me on my way home, i walked down Mud Creek to the Brick Works

going back today to compare would only make me sad

on the east bank of Mud Creek, opposite the Belt Line Trail, a bright spot of sunlight beside that tree with the exposed roots under which many kids play -- note mushroom-dotted footbridge positioned for conveniencepainted on one of the concrete supports for the CNKC mainline bridge over the ravine, a mural of a flower with six yellow petals around a center containing a single blue eye with large pupil... there is a green stem with two leaves, looking like extended arms... the signature "Life © 2023" is at bottom rightCAUTION: Work Overhead
under Governors Road bridge, scaffolding, fencing, and steel towers seemingly propping up the bridge... note the scaffolding extends over the Belt Line Trail to protect us... renaturalized Brick Works quarry, looking west... camera did not pick up the subtle pinks in the clouds, which were darkening to the north... in the distance a row of trees with a discernible cupreous colour... below, several ponds shine bright green with duckweed... paved paths wander through the quarry, and indeed i'm standing on the path that switches back and forth up the east wall
