After seeing two kingfishers chasing each other again in Victoria Park this morning I found the second bird.
Hoping they both hang around over the autumn and into winter.

Autumn vibes
As the leaves change colour, the kingfisher starts to almost blend in with them.
Look at that lipstick
The whole of her lower bill is orange, indicating not only is she is a female, but is quite a mature bird.
She was quite comfortable with me standing just a few metres away.

How many kingfishers do you see?
More drama on the River Lea.

The princess of the park
The view of this female kingfisher in Victoria Park might have been obscured a little by leaves and branches, but she was still just a few metres away. What a wonderful feeling it is to get this close.
Hiding - you don't always get a clear view of the kingfisher
It is the first time I have seen this female on what last autumn was a very regular kingfisher perch in Victoria Park.

Double trouble
After getting this close up sighting in Victoria Park this morning of this female, off she went - quickly followed, rather to my surprise, by another kingfisher.

Pied Wagtail observed in St James's Park, unusual here.

Unsuccessful dive
Watch as one of the juvenile kingfishers on Hackney Marshes fails in their latest fishing effort.
You can really see the dark legs and feet which tells you this bird was born this year - adults would have bright orange feet.
Lunch on the Lea
One of the juvenile kingfishers down at Hackney Marshes with its latest catch.
Garden wildlife. House Sparrows bathing earlier today - I'm not sure why they suddenly decide at some random time that it's bath time! #londonbirds
The kingfisher is back in Victoria Park.
Popped along this morning and within a short time I heard a familiar call.
The ringed juvenile kingfisher on the River Lea.
You can see quite clearly the metal ring on it's right leg.
This youngster is regularly being seen chasing up and down with another juvenile. No stand offs or fighting, just chasing each other up and down.
Arrival of the👑
Well, it’s been a really quiet autumn at the Tate Modern so I’ve had to resort to looking at gulls 😂
This big fella has been keeping me interested though; current thinking is probable Caspian though bill not very typical. #londonbirds
Sutton Peregrines. 1/2. The chicks in 2025 hatched between 27/04 and 01/05, so the 2025 male is now 17 months old! Here are two videos from last night of the 2025 male feeding as it was getting dark. #londonbirds
No sign of the adult male!
Has this youngster prevailed? Only time will tell.
Garden birding. Magpie bath time. #londonbirds
