The #LivingPlanetReport shows nature is under pressure.

But wildlife CAN recover, when given the chance.

🐅 Tiger numbers rose by over 70% between 2010 and 2025.

🦏 The black rhino population has almost tripled since the 1980s.

🦍 Mountain gorillas back from the brink, now over 1,000.

Don‘t take it for hopium. But there are some good news in the #LivingPlanetReport 2026, according to Helen #Pilcher @guardian-climate.bsky.social

„Or, as British anarchist punk band Chumbawamba famously put it: you get knocked down, but you get up again.“

ICYMI: it's not too late!

Things may not have been going well for the natural world, but the #LivingPlanetReport makes it clear what we need to do to help it recover. 🌍

Neuer #LivingPlanetReport:

#BREAKING: The average size of monitored wildlife populations has fallen by 73% since 1970.

But the #LivingPlanetReport tells us something else too… what falls can rise again. Elephants, tigers, green turtles, tuna. All made a comeback.

Not by chance. By people.

Share with hope.

The good news is nature loss can be reveresed. 🌱

But for this to happen we need to see a change in the systems that are driving it. Food, energy and finance all have a critical role to play.

The 2026 @wwf.org.uk Living Planet Report is live!

The #NexusAssessment showed that biodiversity, water, food, health and climate change are interconnected. The #LivingPlanetReport brings a message of hope: by transforming these systems, we can create tipping points benefiting nature and people.

PH: One of the central findings of the IPBES Nexus Assessment was that biodiversity, water, food, health and climate change cannot be managed in isolation. The 2026 Living Planet Report, released today, reinforces this message powerfully. The same energy, food and financial systems driving biodiversity loss are also shaping the resilience of our terrestrial, freshwater and marine ecosystems. Integrated action can generate multiple benefits at once, creating shared gains for nature and people.
