God of Truth, we pray to you on Coming Out Day. Send your Spirit and strengthen us, that we may find the courage to be fully and openly ourselves, and that we may fully and openly welcome the identities of others. Indeed, your son taught us that one does not
"light a lamp to put it under a bushel. On the contrary, it is placed on a lampstand, where it shines for all who are in the house" (Matthew 5:15). Enable us to live according to this teaching. Reconcile us with ourselves, heal the wounds we may have received in the course of our lives, whether they resulted from coming out or prevent us from doing so. Make us sensitive to your Love, that we may receive the serene certainty of being your beloved children, now and forever. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who is God made manifest within humanity. Amen.
