I was particularly charmed by the monogram on this headstone I saw at Dryburgh Abbey in the far south east of Scotland. It marks the grave of Noel Jessie Haliburton Wilson, Countess of Mayo - she lived to be 101!

Beautiful #typography is one of the main reasons I love graveyard wandering. 🪦 I particularly enjoy looking for epitaphs carved in historic gothic blackletter typefaces.

These headstones are all from the old burial ground / Galashiels Burial Aisle, Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Our memorial stone to the four founders of the Royal Ballet - Ninette de Valois, Frederick Ashton, Constant Lambert and Margot Fonteyn - was dedicated in 2009.

The flowing gold lettering was designed to depict movement. You can find the stone in the south transept.
