My fifth and final font for the @cartoonist.coop Letterer Challenge 2026! The prompt was "Font Selfie", so I made a font influenced by my own handwriting!
You can download it here: chaseburns.itch.io/cb-compositi...

an image displaying "CB Composition", a handwritten comic book font.

there's a speech balloon that reads "For this font, I took a page out of my own book… literally! Which is to say… the shapes are influenced by the quick notes I took in school!!"

Made for the Cartoonists United Letterer Challenge 2026another image displaying "CB Composition", a handwritten comic font.

There's a speech balloon reading "technically most comic book style fonts are handwritten, but what I mean is this is pretty sloppy."

OpenType ligatures make side-by-side duplicate letters different, for a more handwritten feel.

Some letters even have triplicate versions!

There's another speech balloon reading "Wheee!!! Ooooohhh?? Aaaaiiiiiieeee!!"

And for the discerning individual, alternate characters can also be picked by hand! Even the periods!!

There's a speech balloon that reads "and then I was all like, 'blah blah blah'.....", with highlighted letters, discerning which ones are alternate letters.another image displaying "CB Composition", a handwritten comic font. this one lists the four styles: regular, italic, bold, and bold italic. it also displays all of the glyphs included in the font

My fourth font for the @cartoonist.coop Letterer Challenge 2026! This prompt was "Horror", as if that wasn't obvious! It has lots of alternate characters!

an image displaying "Scrawling Darkly", a gritty comic book font.

there's a speech balloon that reads "Wanna hear how long I can scream? Aaaaaiiiiiiiieeeeeeee!!! Hold on, let me try that again..."

Made for the Cartoonists United Letterer Challenge 2026another image displaying "Scrawling Darkly", a gritty comic book font.

Uses opentype ligatures to switch up side-by-side duplicate characters. Vowels have 4 alternates! Alts can also be picked manually, for variety.

Displaying this feature is a speech balloon that reads "Thiiisss iiisss hooow slowwlllyy I caaaaan taaallkk" and 4 "urgh!"s with different alternate letters.

Good for sound effects (Maybe even better than for dialogue…). Demonstrating this are stylized sound effects that reads "Splat", "Aaaiiieeee!!!", and "drip drip".another image displaying "Scrawling Darkly", a gritty comic book font. this one displays all of the characters included in the font, with many alternates.

My third font for the @cartoonist.coop Letterer Challenge 2026! This one's prompt was "Sci-fi"! It's very alien!
You can download it here: chaseburns.itch.io/turing-pest-...
#font #openfontlicense #lettererchallenge2026

An image displaying "Turing Pest", a nigh-unreadable font that resembles a Turing pattern.

There's a speech balloon reading "You’ll never be able to break through my alien technology firewall!" and a response that reads "Uhhh... can you repeat that?"

Made for the Cartoonists United Letterer Challenge 2026Another image displaying "Turing Pest", a nigh-unreadable font that resembles a Turing pattern. This one has a lot of unreadable text, which reads:

"The Turing pattern is a concept introduced by English mathematician Alan Turing in a 1952 paper titled "The Chemical Basis of Morphogenesis", which describes how patterns in nature, such as stripes and spots, can arise naturally and autonomously from a homogeneous, uniform state. The pattern arises due to Turing instability, which in turn arises due to the interplay between differential diffusion of chemical species and chemical reaction. The instability mechanism is surprising because a pure diffusion, such as molecular diffusion, would be expected to have a stabilizing influence on the system (i.e., complete mixing)."

- “Turing pattern” per WikipediaAnother image displaying "Turing Pest", a nigh-unreadable font that resembles a Turing pattern.

There's doubled-up text in different styles that reads "Besides the regular style, there’s the more easily readable 'Halfways' style" / "And both of those styles have an 'Empty' version, which only has outlined shapes."

In a very unreadable style, there's a line of text that reads "It’s not very easy to read!!"

My second font for the @cartoonist.coop Letterer Challenge 2026! This time the prompt was "Fantasy"!
You can download it here: chaseburns.itch.io/thauma-heisler
#font #openfontlicense #lettererchallenge2026

an image displaying "Thauma Heisler", an obscure magical text comic font.

a sign set in the font reads "Abandon all hope ye who enter here," alongside speech balloons that read "That sign’s been there for quite a while," and "Isn’t it about time we got it replaced?"

Made for the Cartoonists United Letterer Challenge 2026another image displaying "Thauma Heisler", an obscure magical text comic font.

speech balloons read "Speak my name! Shazam!!", "Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos!", and "Let me clarify this. Taro, Caro, Salomon!"

Lowercase vowels are underlined.

a rotated caption box reads "Maybe rotate it to disguise the latin alphabet even more!"

You can type in all caps to get rid of the underline effect.

Double curly brackets {{ }} make breath marks with opentype ligatures, demonstrated by a speech balloon reading "Alakaza--(gasp) You interrupted my spell!"another image displaying "Thauma Heisler", an obscure magical text comic font. this one lists the four styles: regular, italic, bold, and bold italic. it also displays all of the glyphs included in the font

My first font for the @cartoonist.coop Letterer Challenge 2026! The prompt was "romance", even though the font doesn't traditionally look it...
