Ada: “But you said nothing about a princess.” Inge chases after her lips, hungry. Inge: “I ought to bite you.” They embrace They press their foreheads against each other, Inge manages a smile. Inge: “You’re a strange woman.” Ada: “The way I act, I think most would argue I’m not one.” Inge plays with the fabric of her dress. Ada: “I’ve never liked being told I should be a certain way just because of how I was born.” Inge: “I’ve noticed you have a problem with following directions.” Ada gently presses Inge back on the bed, leaning over them. Ada: “I want to live as myself, if breaking God’s rules means damnation, so be it. What makes my love really so monstrous?” Inge’s flushed, they look up at her with a nervous, crooked smile. Inge: “You’ve been a terrible influence.”
