#Leaves are #habitat, not trash.
One of the most valuable things you can do to support #pollinators/ #invertebrates is to provide them with the shelter they need.
Leaves,brush piles,fallen logs,plant stems,and flower heads are homes for #wildlife!

With the coming of fall, a reminder to leave your leaves! Don't rake where you don't have to. Insects need those leaves to keep their eggs warm over winter. There are lots of reasons for insect population decline, but you have direct control over one of them!

๐Ÿ‚ That "messy" fall garden? It's actually a 5-star hotel for native bees, birds & salamanders. Leaf litter = insulation. Standing stems = shelter for 30% of bee species. Your rake can wait, wildlife can't.

A layer of leaves can help protect the soil, support insects and provide valuable cover when wildlife needs it most.

Sometimes, the best thing we can do for wildlife is simply leave its habitat alone.
