Braelyn's fear of Velimiar and what he's capable of has its own journey throughout the series. I think book 4 (and maybe 5?) is where her fear of him is the absolute highest (based on the events between books 2 & 3). I'm trying to lean into that while writing "Son of Embers".

I won't say I've *fully* overcome it, but I have gotten a little bit more comfortable with sharing my work with people (for critique purposes). The thought of it doesn't make me violently ill anymore, just a little bit nauseous 😅

My MC struggles with the fear he'll lose his soul and be damned by God, even though he logically doesn't believe in such things.

In the course of the story he discovers a faith (not necessarily Christian) rooted in love rather than punishment.

Yes! My inciting incident involves "The Ritual" when kids in the technophobic cult are trained on what to do in an attack by the evil AI.

The scene happened IRL at an evangelical youth camp, where we told kids the government was going to round up Christians. Religious trauma FTW #LateNightWrite

Overcome? No I still have imposter syndrome.

Community helps a lot. I got stuck on my writing for years because I thought I could do it on my own. Communities sharpen your skills and keep you motivated.

Daniel's afraid of heights so that one's easy. He has to confront it a lot partnering with Jude, who alters her own gravity, but I wouldn't say he's over it.

For Jude, nothing debilitating. She makes bad choices from fear of becoming her mother, who made different bad choices.

Yes, inn Savage as You, Hailey is deathly afraid of deep water. This fear is present in every mortal who shares her soul (Long-ish story). Hailey does indeed face her fears, rather forcibly. As Lin J'Roe knows her fears, and can manifest them.

In WIP 2, Harper mentions there's a tree in her home town of Cherry Grove called Bloody Bones that allegedly eats children who get near it. This is quite a common folk story in the area kids tell each other, due to all the disappearances ....
