In the beginning of _A Castrovel Adventure: Part 3_, Lady Vaeol seeks out the drill instructor who forced Kaure to give up her shotalashu for being korasha...

While watchtide, I kept eyes open for Arae Elderspear. Bywardly, I saw her in the meal-hall. I asked to speak alone.

I led her to the heartyard, where we stood under the great milktree, and she asked my will. I told I had trusty word that she had bereft the City of a rider. A dumbstricken look crossed her face, and I frankly think she first witted not what I spoke of. So I gave Kaure’s name, whereon unbelief further widened her eyes. She shook her head. So I asked whether she would naysay the deed.

She did not naysay. Instead, she gazed straight at me: ~Korasha di lasha.~ “Korasha do not ride,” outspoke she.

I answered that I knew Kaure had already bound a Shotalashu when Arae bereft it. Furthermore, I know another Korasha who rides well, and, to my mind, better than Arae, and a better Elderspear as well, and so outnamed Oshis. At his name, I cannot well bewrite her look. Not since Valmaeyana fighting the Formians have I seen utter hatred on a Lashunta face. She spat that Oshis has no right to ride as Elderspear. ~O'nae ukezhyas, o Shota halaeassa,~ - "He should be offrun," she answered, "and his Shota slain."

Her hatred shook me. I offshrugged unbelief while my anger rose to match. I stood near, overleaned, and then outquoth that she should never again do as she had done to Kaure. If ever I hear, I swore I would wreck her livelihood, for not only am I Outrider and Flagmaiden, but I have Lady-Captain’s ear, and also Master-Captain Dosuaesh’s (which name I ground into her ear for the flinch outbearing), and moreover would bring my kindred’s full might, both Lady-Mother and sisters.

In the beginning of _A Castrovel Adventure: Part 3_, Lady Vaeol learns from Kaure what minority Thwartkind undergo, despite all her belief in Lashunta communality...

This last mindwhit showed so fearsomely, and yet also queerly, that it shook me. It offbroke starkly, and I reckoned no end but an odd emptiness. I sought further and found a dithercraft overmuddling, unskilled soulcraft as one unlearned at the Ihezoshu. I asked what had befallen, though when she faltered answer I should not be forecaught.

Reckoningly, I bespoke the dithercraft, and asked whether she wished me to lift it. A deep, dreadful thought overtook her, as if she half-guessed and so worried. Grimly she said yes.

Mildly as I could, my mind reached forth, cradled hers, and shed her thought’s muddleship. As I did, I peered within what had hidden…

I found something so hurtful, so woundful, that shock halted me: something I had erenever believed canny, that men could so wrong a maiden, a wrathfulness that in fifty years I had erenever dreamed.

Kaure broke mindlink and leapt afoot. Yet in that breathtide ere our linkbreach, I felt such wrath and dread as I had erenever witted. Even worse, mindlessly, it aimed at me, against her better wisdom, for right as I had caught her yestermind, so had she caught some of my life: wealth, high kindred, the best teachers, korasha yielding me worship even in little thoughtless, and every behoof: all the wants she yearned.

Right then she might have offrun. Yet against my shame, I took her hand. By my own soulmight I refound mindshare. Her wrath I took and let overflood. Then I asked her wish that I might do for her sake.

In the beginning of _A Castrovel Adventure: Part 3_, Lady Vaeol confronts lashunta's and her own biases and assumption toward the people chauvinistically called Thwartkind: female korasha and male damaya...

#pathfinder #pathfinder2e #lashunta #castrovel #rpg #ttrpg #worldbuilding #worldanvil

The riddle at the heart of folk’s unease with these wights has ever seemingly been whether one behaves a ~korashe~ as a better, owing to her wifeliness, or as a lesser for being korasha? Likewise samely for ~damayas~: as Damaya better or as a man lesser? Folk rootfully know not how to behave, for they have no rightful, easy stead in our society. Therefore, we unmind them whenever we can, and mock them when we must meet them, as small wrackship under unwillingness.

While I stared and tried to soothe my startleness, at once I beheld another whisper unproven. The tales I had ere heard bespoke ~korashe~ as ugly freaks: hairily rough-thewed and frightful beards. Yet I deemed Kaure not ugly. Surely was she short and broad, rising to my breast. Yet the most whiskers she had was some wispy down on lip and cheek. Green tresses with a cloudsilver sheen drew back in a tailknot over green-freckled bronze skin. Also in no wise would I call her body manly, forwhy smooth and wholly buxom she showed. Her bosom put even Remaue to shame, and from her hips I could not even draw eyes. Full they swelled, like a great mead vat slimming to her waist. She wore rightly enough a breast-halter (eyesomely broadly cut to her size) and a leather warrior’s kilt.

Today I again sought Lady-Captain and told that I have three more names to install for my flag. Lady-Captain took and deemed them well added. Yet then she asked whether I would reckon another. I asked whom, whereat she bade me follow and led from her stallroom.

She led me to the Shota-Barn, where we came among the riders and grooms, and until the far door, where a korasha shoveled dung. The korasha swerved to us, and I startled, forwhy this korasha was not a man, but wifely. Thus Lady-Captain undergreeted me to Kaure.

Soon as I witted my own startleness, shame burned, for I bewared the offthank I showed. I had kenned some little of ~rahyathalma~ - thwartkind Folk, who are few but the butt of much idle talk in youth, both while schooltide and newlinghood. Along with wifely ~korashe~, who were whispered as roughly squat and hairy, there are manly ~damayas~, tall, slim, weak, and right wifely-seeming but for the fleshy stalk between their legs. Along with these bewritnesses had come wild tales of ~korashe~ trying to show themselves as men and ~damayas~ as wives, leading to awkwardness in bedsport, which tales I had ever ataken as too uncanny against any truth, forwhy I had known a ~damayas~ at school, who had been my Elvish loremate.

In the beginning of _A Castrovel Adventure: Part 3_, Lady Vaeol makes an important life choice, in which, as an outrider, she must ask the Citadel's dispensation to end her maidenhood oath...

#pathfinder #pathfinder2e #lashunta #castrovel #rpg #ttrpg #worldbuilding #worldanvil

At the Citadel, I beseeched moottide with Lady-Captain. When I introd her stallroom, I found both her and Master-Captain Dosuaesh, and which I found made the speech even harder. Almost I could not speak until they worried at my halt. Then I grew fearful after I spoke, that they might take ill my beseech for wifehood.

A long breathtide the two captains stood. In reckonship they nodded while I waited wringingly, and almost bethought they had gathered mindshare. Then Master-Captain spoke that he had forelooked tale that I am already bechild, and my antennae burned! Even Lady-Captain laughed, though she slapped him chidingly. I lost my coolness and asked by what proof he misspoke my sheerness. Still chuckling, he begged forgiveness and outlaid it is well known I overhead a lusty house, and neither does he see in my selfness any withholdingness. Such wrath overtook me that brought my eyes tears and almost spoke unkindliness. Yet Lady-Captain hugged me, and begged his forgiveness. Master-Captain swore he had outspoken nothing against me, nor deed done, nor my nameworth, though he shrove that, even if I had gotten bechild while under maidenhood’s oath, he would bethink me no less.

After I soothed, Lady-Captain asked if I would take leave from the Citadel, to which I answered that when the tide befallss, I so would, Yet until then I would stand oughtwatch so late as canny. Also, I said no plan is yet made, nor bridetide set, but that I would get all business settled ere the deed.

In the beginning of _A Castrovel Adventure: Part 3_, Lady Vaeol puts a proposal to her flagmate and wifelove Erymi, unique to lashunta...

#pathfinder #pathfinder2e #lashunta #castrovel #rpg #ttrpg #worldbuilding #worldanvil

Then I asked: ~O'stireori-nae yueve dasra ihasra?~ "Why must I love a wicked man?"

Erymi laughed and hugged me tightly. She answered it is Wifelykind’s selfsomeness to want a mighty man, even one wanton with many wives, forwhy, by owning him, a wife raises her stallworth, and also to bequeathe his mightiness to her children. Moreover, most wives haughtily believe they can tame such wildness. Then she shrove that, after first she met Oshis on their first warfare to the South (ere I went), he had ever proven lusty and miswillfull. Yet she had grown to love him anywise, had forlooked his many sporttides with other wives, and had forgiven his sins. She fully wared she cannot shift him, but maybe can drive him to better choices.

Then she swiveled to me and asked what I would wish. At her word, I quailed.

Though I had readied for this tide, fear overrode words down into my breast. Long I had thought on bridetide and the First Man I would choose, and more than only Oshis I had reckoned: Less for his goodness and unleastly to have blood-kinship with Remaue’s child, also Captain Dosuaesh for his masterful doughtiness and mild wisdom. Yet ever my mind harkened back to Oshis, my first otherspear and wickedly mighty for the reasons I have written above. Yet I had another, too, for he is the korasha who rides, and if I bear a korasha babe, I would love that he may ride as well.

I knelt, took Erymi’s hand, and beseeched that I would seek blood-kinship with her and her daughter. Erymi wept, smiled, and kissed me. Then she outspoke she could think of no higher worth than to become my childsister. We hugged and laughingly wept together.

In the beginning of _A Castrovel Adventure: Part 3_, Lady Vaeol, with Erymi's collusion, sets Oshis up for an accounting with Sievae and her son, even while she comes to terms with her own feelings...

#pathfinder #pathfinder2e #lashunta #castrovel #rpg #ttrpg #worldbuilding #worldanvil

Today I got leave to head to our flaghold, and not only for myself, but Tae, Less, Remaue, and Oshis also. Oshis dolefully had ended his thewdom under Vosaeth, and I had Erymi’s stark bid to bring him. So we set from from and fared along the island’s shore.

Needless to say, all but Oshis already knew what awaited on our reachship. When we rode up to the holdtree, out came Erymi holding her daughter Tesine. Then came Sievae leading her son’s hand. I watched Oshis’s face while this happened, and bewitted his mirth dim.

Erymi came down, leading Sievae and her son, and greeted her manmate staidly. She bade he should speak with Sievae. She left him with a kiss and bade him afterward find her. Then we others followed her into the tree, leaving Oshis and Sievae below.

Tightly passed the next belltide while all recked their speech, with sometimes shouts and sobs. For Remaue’s and my share, we had had little enough time together, owing to the Motorae lately ended, until now. So after we got packs stowed, happily we lay together abed while Lanaryel crawled between and did little but mindshare. Remaue witted something heavy weighed me and let thoughts follow loose flow. Bywardly, she and the babe slumbered.

I rose and strolled to the main deck, and there found Erymi sitting within her cot and holding her sleeping daughter. I witted Oshis and Sievae were walking within the meadow, upkeeping their speech, which I atook from Erymi’s look as good token. At her welcome I sat, put arms over, and kissed her. For a long tide I merely held her.

Then I asked: ~O'stireori-nae yueve dasra ihasra?~ "Why must I love a wicked man?"

In the beginning of _A Castrovel Adventure: Part 3_, Vaeol says farewell to Lady Vosaeth, though not before sealing their bond in an ancient Retaea ritual...

#pathfinder #pathfinder2e #lashunta #castrovel #rpg #ttrpg #worldbuilding #worldanvil

Lady Vosaeth and her host yesterday took Son’s leave and went northward, back to the wide Retaea their homeland. The whole Matronhood and Citadel gathered to witness Lady-Mother blessing their farewell. As gift, my mother bestowed a sheer blueglass mead vat full two cubits tall and wrought with handles shapen like Korasha warriors, and a set of matching cups. Lady Vosaeth named it a queenly gift and swore herself under our dearth, and not merely after this gift but the true guesthood we had bestowed, both here and at war. If Son ever need an ally, she forespoke her clan and good word to all clans else, and that she shall speak of Son’s giftfulness at the Blighttide Clanmoot.

Then Vosaeth called me forth and thanked my leadership in the Formian Warfare. Somewhat ashamedly I took her praise from my friendship, wisdom, and furthermore my love. Then she asked leave to name me sister, which is a worship seldom given beyond the Retaea Clans. Meekly I yaysaid, and we kissed.

Then laughingly the reaverwife outspoke that, since she is hereby my elder sister, she would bestow rede, and furthermore as wife to maiden in the Retaea wise. I answered that, since from history I understand we are all rootsomely Retaea, I would do so gladly. This brought laughter from all, even my sisters.

Vosaeth said that, though she is the Thief-Queens’ afterbear, her counsel stems from the elder Warrior-Queens, whose blood we share. She read I should ward honor and truth, which she had already witted in my mettle, and that I should be unafraid to take many lovers, though of manloves to take wisely and no more than than one a yeartide, so that I may match children to fathers (which made me blush tearfully). Then again she kissed me and quoth that in me she beholds the Warrior-Queens' blood reborn, but even better, which brought a yell from my fellow outriders and my household, who already knew my nickname. We swore sisterhood, and all danced a cheer.
