Finally had a chance to take the Petzval lens I picked up a few weeks ago out today. Have a couple left to develop tomorrow but pretty happy with these- and that I am not entirely out of focus in the self portrait

@ztiworoh.bsky.socialPicked up a new, old brass Petzval lens on an eBay auction. By a UK company called Horne and Thornewaite, dating to the earliest days of photography. Can't get an exact date but this is likely from ~1855-1865. Took one test shot with it and it's so swirly!
@benrains.bsky.socialA few years ago I got this Verito 14.5in soft-focus lens for a real bargain. Its aperture blades had come unseated, and it lacked a mounting flange. It was unexpectedly easy to repair the aperture myself, but it was only last month that I finally had a flange machined for it. #largeformatphotography
