Day 284/365 October 11 2026
When the sun rises on the far end of the lake the days seem longer than they actually are. The living room windows become a Stonehenge marking the moments when the sunrise aligns with the frames
Another marvelous day begins
Thankful for it
Always #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026

Day 283/365 October 10 2026
Almost rising right down the middle of the lake. The last time the sun rose in this spot was back in April. Mid autumn and mid spring still feel very different. Today’s forecast high temp is more like mid summer. Soak it up and store for winter #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026

Day 282/365 October 9 2026
A bit of a false sunrise begins. Thirty minutes later the real sun rises over the water. Halfway between was a spectator of color and texture. Everyday nature opens a gallery of art and music that should inspire us all to do and be better. Be well #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026

Day 281/365 October 8 2026
The gradual glow of an approaching sun lulls one into awe
Then a moment of amazing color and texture snaps you to motion to capture the wonder, knowing that it will change in the steps from room to room, and in a rush walk through the screen door #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026

Day 280/365 October 7 2026
Tranquility: a state of quietness, restfulness, and mental ease. Or just another October sunrise. Take a moment to bask in these autumn rays. Find a sunbeam in a window. In the car. Soak it in. It’s like charging a battery
We’ll need it for winter #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026

Day 279/365 October 6 2026
Epic orange glow in a Rorschach reflection. The waning crescent moon with Jupiter just above out of frame and fading as Helios approaches. October mornings bring the best colors and textures. The foliage follows suit as the forest wardrobe changes #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026

Day 278/365 October 5 2026
A stellar October morning begins. A belt of Venus glows as the sky shifts from inky black to familiar blue. High over head, almost behind this view, a waning quarter moon begins to fade as it sets. Harvest is in full swing
Watch & yield to farmers #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026

Day 277/365 October 4 2026
Twin Cities Marathon weekend. Thousands of runners started out on the 10 mile course and watched the sunrise while they ran east to St Paul. My daughter is among them. 27 years ago she watched her mom and I run this marathon. #MinneapolisStPaul #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026

Day 276/365 October 3 2026
On the road but noting how October can bring some of the best sunrises. The mix of color and texture with clouds and fog and foliage make each morning memorable. This photo is from this day last year. The moon today was setting, not rising. #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026

Day 275/365 October 2 2026
A chill in the air. Fog blows over the calm water as Sol rises. Warm water under cold air creates a misty fog - like a primordial morning of beginning. Slow starts to such mornings. Bright blue skies ahead. And, almost forgot: the weekend begins! #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026

Day 274/365 October 1 2026
Rorschach reflections. This morning’s cloud occluded sunrise and last night’s orange sherbet swept cirrus clouds at sunset. So much color and texture in nature’s art gallery, which is open 24 hours a day every day. Make time to marvel and share. #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026

Day 273/365 September 30 2026
A gorgeous clear sunrise after a few days of foggy rain. The morning moisture clings to things like boat seats and spider webs. So out comes the sun to dry up all the rain. Itsy bitsy spiders will climb up things again. Mother Nature inspires #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026

Day 272/365 September 29 2026
A soaking rain from clouds cloaking the sunrise. Fallen leaves are wet and stick to the driveway like an art class mosaic. In the woods, wet leaves are silent. No telltale crunch of approaching footsteps. Both hunter and prey need to be alert #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026

Day 271/365 September 28 2026
Mottled clouds letting just enough sunlight through to make the morning interesting. The textures and reflections, light and shadow, color and contrast paint a vibrant picture with no video controls or edits needed
Fog approaches on the horizon #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026

Day 270/365 September 27 2026
A foggy mist occludes the sunrise over a marshy meadow. This is the season of fullness. Color and fruit reach peak ripeness
The fluffy foxtail along the road bend and wave in the breeze.
Take a Sunday drive and take the full beauty in #Fall #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026

Day 269/365 September 26 2026
Eurus brings the storms. The east wind rattles the waves against the shore and the rain against the windows. Fallen leaves will be slick on the pavement. Grass stays green as a parched earth quenches her thirst. No flocks flying this morning #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026

Day 268/365 September 25 2026
Tired of the gloomy greyscale mornings. So here is sunrise from last year on this day. It seemed it was more summer like a year ago.
Interesting how the same place and
picture on the same day a year later can seem a different place and time #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026

Day 267/365 September 24 2026
Grey morning rains quenching the parched earth. Some leaves will likely be knocked down with the rain. Migrating frogs are smiling. How different are Autumn rains from Spring? Less rivulets in the yard? Different aromas? Warm vs cold? Welcome #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026

Day 266/365 September 23 2026
Look closely and you will see Stan on the dock guarding the boat. Stan is our local Great Blue Heron who we often see “standing” along the shore. Awesome birds with mythological significance. Patience. Self-Reliance. Always a welcome sight. #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026

Day 265/365 September 22 2026
The progression of dawn to Sol’s arrival on the Autumnal Equinox. The oak tree serves as an anchor and framing point. Unmoving markers create a personal StoneHenge to catalog a solar calendar. Take time to notice and make a personal StoneHenge #LakeMiltona #sunrise2026
