They got to their feet and immediately staggered into Balance’s lap as the adrenaline wore off. They pulled the shard of metal out of their muzzle, blood oozing from the wound. “Oh, I think I'm injured." Balance couldn't help but smile, holding her friend in her arms. "Yes, duck, I know. Hold still while I get you more medi-gel." They looked over themself and winced as they tried to move their digits. "Also I broke my paws punching the floor. Can you sort that out for me too, Evvy? Second thought, gonna have a lie down,” they said, voice trembling as they slid out of the greyhound's grasp and fainted into blackness.

Alvin paused for a moment as he processed what the sergal had said. "So you're telling me… Star Trek teleporters exist, and you've used one, and also the government are trying to kill you?" Mel laughed. "No no no. It was a magical teleporter, and they stopped trying to kill me ages ago." The husky blinked. "Oh, okay. That's… much better?"

Mel turned to the wolf who lagged behind them, putting on a fake whinging tone. “Come onnnnn, hurry up! It’s terrible out here, and the shop will be warm!” Epoxy grinned, clearly holding things up for her own personal amusement. “I don’t see any reason to move any faster than I am, Blaster. Anyone would think you had something special planned, instead of just a shopping trip.” “You know I do. I literally explained everything to you, twice! Now you're just being obstinate because you think it's funny!” “It is funny, love.” Mel growled with exasperation as they rounded the corner, spying an antique shop right where they expected it. “Finally,” they cried, running up to the door and holding it open for their partner, the bell above it jingling quietly. “In you come!” To Mel's despair, there was no added urgency - Epoxy sauntered over the road slowly before slipping past the sergal into the store.
