This Throwback Thursday, I have a pic of Miss Mina and Miss Lucy checking out some Halloween decorations in 2023. Cats like consistency, but small changes can stimulate them and help keep them from feeling bored.

It's been rainy this week, so Miss Lucy has been restless. Cats can become desensitized to most aversive sounds but only if they're consistent.

It's not hard to figure out when Miss Lucy is interested in something. Follow your cat's gaze and help them by giving them a closer look at anything they show interest in.

We're ready for Halloween and Miss Lucy is enjoying the little changes, especially the new blanket. Cats get stimulated by new scents. Just don't include the scents of unfamiliar cats.

This is currently one of Miss Lucy's favorite nighttime sleeping spots. Cats rotate sleeping spots to thwart predators, so make sure your cats have plenty of options to choose from.
It can be easy to forget just how much joy a box can be for most cats. Extra points if it's just the right size. :)

This Throwback Thursday, I have a pic of Baby Lucy enjoying some sunbeams in 2018. I still see some of that kitten energy in her, even today.
Most people default to using force to try and control their cat's behaviors. Is that really the best way to get the results you want?

This is one of Miss Lucy's favorite places to scratch. Cats need multiple scratching surfaces, both horizontal and vertical. They scratch to sharpen their claws and define their territory through their scratching and scent deposits.
A bird outside caught Miss Lucy's eye while we were hanging out on the catio. That chattering sound cats sometimes make in response to seeing prey is generally thought to be an expression of excitement and sometimes frustration.
This Throwback Thursday, I have a pic of Miss Mina in our empty LA apartment just prior to driving from one coast to the other. Moving is difficult for cats. Make it easier for them by providing familiar scents along the way.
It's normal for us humans to want what other people have. Even other people's cats. But, those cats aren't perfect and your envy could be harming your relationships with your own feline friends.

This is either Miss Lucy in a cube or some kind of dimensional crossrip. You decide. :)
Cats especially need new things to explore and new scents to detect every day. Even letting them explore packing paper or shopping bags can help.
Someone down the street decided that a rainy day in September was the perfect day for firecrackers (?!?!), so Miss Lucy has been avoiding her catio. I'm just glad she's not hiding. Fireworks are such a scourge on pets everywhere.
This Throwback Thursday, I have a pic of Miss lucy "making biscuits" while she was in quarantine. We think this behavior is a vestige of the things they do to stimulate milk production in their mothers when they're nursing.
Miss Lucy loves to rest on these mesh chairs on warmer days. I was concerned that being able to see through the fabric would bother her, but it doesn't seem to. It's important to offer options to cats in order to learn their preferences.
It's garbage day and Miss Lucy is a little wary of the trucks when they get close. That's okay. I just try to show her that she's safe.
This Throwback Thirsday, I have a pic of Miss Mina's lovely paws. Please, never declaw a cat. Imagine having your fingertips cut off at the first knuckle and you'll have some idea of what this is like for cats. Don't do it.
