#GlobalKinshipCareWeek might be over but recognising & supporting #KinshipCarers matters all year round 💜🧡

Stories from kinship carers we work with in #Bangladesh through our partner CDD show why supporting carers alongside the children they care for is so important.

Shuvo has cerebral palsy and is fully dependent on her. At 60, Ayna was facing stigma and isolation, constant knee and back pain and had been unable to earn an income alongside her caring responsibilities. Through our Carers Project, Ayna found friendship and support through her local Carers Group, received treatment for her health needs and training in poultry rearing to help her earn an income. Today, she is an active member of her Carers Group and is building a more secure future for herself and Shuvo." “The Carers Project has given me courage and that courage means I can support Shuvo for his future.” - AynaImage of a woman and a girl with text overlaid: "Rina cares for her niece, Anu, who has an intellectual disability. When Anu’s parents found themselves unable to provide the care she needed, Rina stepped in as her full-time carer. The demands of caring had left Rina isolated at home and unable to work, while fear of stigma made her afraid to take Anu outside. Through our Carers Project, Rina found support and companionship through a local Carers Group. With counselling and tailoring training, she regained confidence and began earning an income, while Anu received support at one of our Community Caring Centres and began forming friendships and developing new skills." “Before joining, life felt unbearably difficult, but being part of the group brought me hope and companionship.” - Rina
