I've done school visits where we start the day with a school-wide (or all the classes in one grade) assembly and I do my big-group presentation, then I have a series of small-group sessions with different classes to go in-depth with the process. It's the best of both worlds! #KidLitChat

Oooh, I wish! I used to live just north of Sacramento (at Beale AFB)! We were there for nearly a decade before the Air Force moved us to Maryland. I keep wanting an excuse to go back to the Sacramento area to do some book events (that's where I was when I wrote my debut novel) #KidLitChat

I've also done several presentations at conferences for educators, librarians, and booksellers about how to partner with local authors to promote community engagement and love of literacy. Those are some of my favorites, because I get to meet with enthusiastic readers! #KidLitChat

I've taught multiple sections of my Selling Yourself Without Selling Yourself Short workshops at SCBWI conferences, and they're always a big hit. (I haven't done one in a few years... maybe I should send out some proposals again...) I love doing conference sessions! #KidLitChat

Anyone planning to sign up for the 2027 Sacramento Bookfest? I'm trying to decide if should be an author, publisher, or a retailer. (My business permit was designed to allow any of those three.) If I'm a retailer, I could sell other author's books...

I love meeting with schools for World Read Aloud Day! One of my favorite parts of the whole year! #WRAD #KidLitChat

I don't think we had an author visit at our school, but we had an annual luncheon for winners of the Young Authors Contest, where an author would come do a presentation & meet-and-greet with us. (& we each got a signed copy of their book.) Entire reason I entered the contest every year! #KidLitChat

Same!!! I was a huge reader and it never crossed my mind that normal everyday people like me wrote books (I dont know where I thought they came from). Or that *I* could write books. It took forever for me to realize I could and wanted to. #KidLitChat

When I babysat as a teen, I used to have the kids I watched pick two fairy tales and I'd combine them on the spot for a bedtime story. I probably had more fun than they did. One that I remember wasn't exactly two fairy tales: Dracula and the Three Bears. #kidlitchat

We have had spectacular experiences with Zooms for World Read Aloud Day. They are only 20 minutes, but my students feel like they've met every author we've Zoomed with. It absolutely improves an author's circulation in my tiny town. #WRAD #kidlitchat
