Lord Kelvin was also both the youngest (aged 10) and the oldest (aged 75) student to matriculate at Glasgow University. Between these two ages, he also serves as the university's Professor of Natural Philosophy for 53 years.
The statue of William Thomson, better known as Lord Kelvin, one of the greatest scientists of his age, in Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow. Sculpted by Archibald Macfarlane Shannan, it was unveiled in 1913.
