My poem for Jason's lore directly inspired by the English nursery rhyme “Who Killed Cock Robin” with breathtaking accompanying art by @seyraccoon.bsky.social❤️

#jaybin #jasontodd #redhood #batman

The first panel in all vibrant green has the Joker with a bloodied crowbar in his hand leaning down to half-dead Jaybin who's lying on the floor, badly beaten up. With the same crowbar hand, the Joker is poking Jaybin's forehead with his pointer finger.
The stanza reads:
Who killed poor Li’l Robin?
I, said the Cruel Joker,
with my cackle and crowbar,
I killed Li’l Robin.

The second panel in all vibrant yellow has the perspective of Jaybin's biological mother who's shielding herself, only her hands in view. In front of her, Jaybin's blackened sillhouette takes the blast to protect her.
The stanza reads:
Who saw him die alone?
I, said the Mother Phony,
he took the blast in my stead, lonely,
I saw him die.

The third panel in all vibrant red has Batman cradling his dead son Jaybin with a distraught expression, blood is everywhere and Jaybin's face is covered by a dead Robin bird.
The stanza reads:
Who caught his dried blood?
I, said the Father Bat,
with my bare hands far too late,
I caught his blood. The first panel in all vibrant green has Nightwing visiting Jason's grave late, raching out to the angel statue on his brother's grave. The rain, it pours.
The stanza reads:
Who missed his silent funeral?
I said the Brother Nightwing,
my feathers, not fast enough could swing,
I missed his funeral.

The second panel in all vibrant yellow has Jason who just crawled out of his coffin, kneeling in front of his tombstone. In a bird's view, you can see him stretch out his damaged hands, his head hanging low in emotional defeat. The rain, it pours...
The stanza reads:
Who’ll get him out of his coffin?
I, said the Li’l Robin awoken,
with dirtied hands and heartbroken,
I’ll get him out of his coffin.

The third panel in all vibrant red has Talia holding Jason's limp vegetative badly damaged body only mildly covered by a simple cloth. Their pose is a direct reference to Michelangelo's Pietà.
The stanza reads:
Who’ll catch his walking corpse?
I, said daring Talia al Ghul,
for a demon not wholly cruel,
I’ll catch his corpse. The first panel in all vibrant green has Jason emerging from the Lazarus Pit, diverse translucent hands reaching out to him. He covers his face with his own hands but his haunting stare peeks at the viewer. Above him, a (latent) bell is hit by a bullet.
The stanza reads:
Who’ll give him another chance?
I, said the cursed Devil’s pit,
with his mind gone quite a bit,
I’ll give him a chance.

The second panel in all vibrant yellow has Tim in his first Robin uniform, stretching his hands out towards heaven, crying. In the sky above him, Jaybin wears a serene expression. In the background, a bullet is flying high up.
The stanza reads:
Who’ll replace him well?
I, said the New Robin,
to save Father Bat, hoping,
I’ll replace him.

The third panel in all vibrant red has Red Hood in front of Gotham's cityscape firing towards the sky. The bullet is travelling. It is now apparent that the bullet's trajectory in the previous panel as well as the bullet that ends up hitting the (latent) bell in the first panel originated from Red Hood's gun.
The stanza reads:
Who’ll toll the latent bell?
I, said the New Red Hood,
With my gun aiming for good,
I’ll toll the bell.In a vertically elongated single panel, dawn is lighting Gotham's cityscape. Timbin, Nightwing, Batman and Jason are falling upside down. Tim is unconcious, Nightwing has a pained expression, Batman grimaces and tries reaching out with his left hand. Jason's free fall aims two guns at the viewer, his expression resentful.
The final stanza reads:
All the Bats and Birds in the air
fell a-sighing and a-sobbing,
when they were caught unaware,
of Late Robin’s wayward return.
