Read a new review by David Lloyd on Rae Armantrout's Safe Rooms, published in Jacket2!

"A review quote is between two dark brown ripped paper graphics at the top and bottom of the image.
Words: ""While poems are not formally grouped, readers of Armantrout's previous twenty poetry collections will recognize clusters addressing her distinctive terrain: images from the natural world, challenging segues, shape-shifting words and phrases yielding diverse perspectives on the environment, time, language, contemporary culture, lived experience, and the function of poetry in our fraught national moment. Poems present as modest in scale but soon explode with outsized ambitions. One of the great pleasures of a new Armantrout collection are 'small things' — luminous images and moments drawn from the natural world, sometimes dominating a poem, sometimes popping up."" —David Lloyd, Jacket2"
