i found a letter i never sent,
the ink still holding onto things
i no longer recall -
dreams gathering dust
as the quiet ache takes over,
hollowing out my chest.

i found a letter i never sent,
the ink still holding onto things
i no longer recall -
dreams gathering dust
as the quiet ache takes over,
hollowing out my chest.
the depth of emptiness
is measured by the echo
left behind.
placing feelings
of pleasure and terror
in physical proximity of each other
standing
at the perimeter
of where we used to be
the air tastes of salt
and distance
i want the sharp
truth to cut
down my throat
as i swallow
the feeling of betrayal.

what is pain
if it isn’t gutting you.
some dreams
were born
from mistakes
specters mistaken for reveries.
they bloomed all the same.
