#Sept26Challenge Something Dead in the Irrigation Canal
The water is still enough to show a face, but the face is already there.

A painted rural scene looks straight down a long irrigation canal that narrows to a point on the horizon. Bright blue water fills most of the image. Concrete banks angle inward from both sides, with a dirt track and dense green reeds on the left and a golden field on the right. In the near left corner, a pale, humanlike figure lies caught among dried grass at the water’s edge. Its head tilts toward the viewer, mouth open. Below it, a long blue form stretches beneath the surface, crossed by wavering dark reflections from the reeds. Faraway trees and utility poles sit under a clear, pale sky. The flat daylight and orderly fields make the figure easy to miss at first glance.
