Dawn's ion engines changed its speed by 11.5 km/s (25,700 mph), 2.7 times the previous record for a solar-electric ion drive. Launched in 2007, NASA's Dawn became the first spacecraft to orbit two extraterrestrial bodies: Vesta (2011-2012) and Ceres (2015).
