A Panche has no front—until you wear it.

It begins as one piece of cloth. Its form emerges through wrapping, folding, positioning and securing.

The garment is created by the drape.

How did you first learn to wear a Panche?

Why does your Panche keep slipping?

Don't automatically tighten it.

Start with the fold:

Even folds → controlled tuck → balanced fall.

A secure Panche isn't about maximum tension. It's about controlling the fabric before you tuck it.

Where does yours usually slip?

How many pleats should a Panche have?

There isn't a magic number.

The fabric's width, weight, length and weave all affect the ideal arrangement.

Don't chase a number.

Chase an even fall.

Do you count your pleats or adjust them by feel?

A plain Panche may look simple, but a good drape depends on balance.

Centre the cloth. Wrap evenly. Set the length. Form neat folds. Tuck securely. Adjust the final fall.

Good drape = balance, length, folds + a secure tuck.

Which step would you want demonstrated in detail?

One textile tradition, four regional names:

• Karnataka — Panche
• Tamil Nadu — Veshti
• Kerala — Mundu
• Andhra Pradesh — Pancha

Similar root. Distinct regional identity.

Which name was new to you?

That golden shine doesn't necessarily mean gold.

Zari is a metallic yarn/thread used in textile decoration. But zari ≠ gold.

Look beyond the shine. The appearance alone can't tell you the exact material or value.

What did you think zari meant?
