'Matsuri' is the Japanese word for a traditional festival, which often celebrates Japanese deities through dances, shows, parades and processions.

@archive041716.bsky.socialThe handover to Doha took us back in time to relive Qatar's past experiences in hosting larger-scale events, ranging from the Asian Cup, to the 2022 World Cup, the 2019 World Athletics Championships, and especially the 2006 Asiad.
@archive041716.bsky.socialIt will be the second time Doha plays as hosts, after in 2006, and organizers had been confident that the XXI Asiad can be staged without major new construction, with existing venues and infrastructure already in place.

Aichi-Nagoya has turned over the torch and flag from the first Asiad and then the OCA flag itself to representatives from Qatar, hosts to the next Asian Games in 2030 at Doha.

Tonight, all the athletes will reconvene at the Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium, as we say goodbye to the XX Asian Games.
