Oh. So that's what it would look like if I tried to run.
Which I'm not gonna.
Looks horrendous.
I worked with people for 20 years, and they had no idea.
In fact.
I hid both my disability and my medication for most of my life.
I'm half impressed and half appalled with myself for that.
It's all mixed up together, and all the separating it out into little boxes entirely misses the actual cause.
I can't split myself up like that.
I stopped going to the GPs for a long period of time.
I really struggle with the "one issue per visit' rule.
Having some hypermobility issues, which affects connective tissue everywhere, the problems we're never neat, tidy, one at a time.
M and I haven't had a night away together from the kids for 25 years. We have to take it in turns as we have no access to respite and recruiting a PA is virtually impossible. #FragileX #autism #epilepsy #hypermobility
Everything hurts. Neck, hips, back, so not everything but lots of hurts.
I’ve finally figured out how to describe the movement of my joints. It’s like when you walk on ice. One part of my joint is a tennis shoe and the other part is an ice rink. They are so slippery!
October is about more than one condition or diagnosis
At SEDSConnective, we’ve always been connecting them
Because people don't experience their health in neat little boxes.

But what am I not doing instead?
Tell you what, it's also a good one to say to a manager putting more work on you.
Feel this alot.
Stability Over Flexibility 🧱
But hypermobile people can also become very stiff and rigid
It’s about a safety, stability, strength, control and maintaining useful mobility 🧷

I’m in this month’s Women’s Health talking about hyper mobility. An under researched condition that needs talked about more. Thanks to Chloe Gray. There’s also an amazing piece by @cathufton #womenshealth #hypermobility
My whole life I've sat or laid down on the floor and aged 50 something, there's still times when the ONLY right seat is on the floor, leaning on the furniture which rotates from perfect to obnoxiously uncomfortable.
Can't stand
Can't sit
Can't lay down
On a really bad bendy body day even the floor feels like it's moving still or I'm somehow going to sink through it or even more crazy, fall off it.
When I was younger I would regularly put the duvet on the floor and sleep on the duvet on the floor. Or wrapped in it.
On school holiday I did it in the night and my friends found put my secret.
Due to Hypermobility, my joints like soft bumps on a hard floor.
of the whole person. Not two separate things. One person but not all are symptomatic.

If you live with fatigue you eventually learn a New Rule.
The first day is a trick.
The second day it hits you if you don't respect the first day.
If you want to support my work, please share it with your friends, families, support groups etc. It makes a huge difference - and is the main reason I can keep creating my disability resources while managing my #PoTS #Hypermobility etc! stickmancommunications.co.uk
