Note to self... when you have a meeting at a nature reserve, it is always worth going for a quick walk on the reserve. This is the wonderful Crowle Moor in the #HumberheadLevels

A rather 'dull grey moth' but looking closer there are markings & hints of rusty brown. Is this #PoorPhotograph enough for #TeamMoth to confirm my tentative identification of Acleris sparsana? @mothiduk.bsky.social #Yorkshire #HumberheadLevels #MothsMatter

Possible Acleris sparsana. Actinic trap 3/4 October 2026.

I too observed two Willow Emerald damselflies here in rural #Yorkshire #HumberheadLevels garden today, 1st October. Too active to get any photographs😔 Seems to have been a good season for them here. #Odonata

#PoorPhotographs 😞 A poor night here, not too surprising as it was a cool 10 degrees C with a Harvest Moon! Good to get a nice Beaded Chestnut, NFY in rural #Yorkshire #HumberheadLevels garden #TeamMoth #MothsMatter @bcyorkshire.bsky.social @doublekidney.bsky.social

Beaded Chestnut (Agrochola lychnidis). New for year in rural #Yorkshire #HumberheadLevels farden. Cool night with Harvest Moon!]Beaded Chestnut (Agrochola lychnidis). New for year in rural #Yorkshire #HumberheadLevels farden. Cool night with Harvest Moon!]

Had been hoping for Rush Veneer in home trap, frustratingly this one was about 100 yards outwith domestic curtiledge 😔 #TeamMoth #MothsMatter #Yorkshire #HumberheadLevels @bcyorkshire.bsky.social @doublekidney.bsky.social

Rush Veneer (Nomophila noctuella) frustratingly a 100 yards or so outwith domestic curtiledge. #HumberheadLevels #Yorkshire

I suppose tree care isn't a supermarket's priority, then again the berry crop in the same planting regime is doing well #HumberheadLevels We all need to nurture #Nature

Flowering Cherry trees with top die off & strong ivy growth but still hanging on in there.Heavy berry crop near hydrologically challenged Flowering Cherry trees. Will they be winter food for flocks of birds? Not sure of variety & palatability to birds& other wildlife.
