i feel like margot being a good cook is some sort of charge being planted.
ch 39

so was it the plumed feather helmet that did it in the end? ch36. #HouseOfNiccolo
keeping it a little ambiguous to avoid spoiling.
in my mind this is what Dr. Tobie Beventini looks like in #HouseOfNiccolo (ch 35)
My face when I notice a “Reid” in #HouseofNiccolo is 🤔
did niccolo just pull the greatest "your mom" joke in history lmao on chapter 25 book 1.
i actually think niccolo rising would be an easier tv show to pull off than game of kings bc you dont think claes is annoying at first like you do lymond and people prob prefer to cheer an obvi underdog in a rags to riches story
'The two deceiving dimples appeared in Claes’ cheeks.'
'Katelina watched the one girl glance at Claes, and away, and back again.'
I understand others don't agree but reading between the lines: Claes is very attractive. That girl *just* met Claes.
the duke of savoy, the duke of milan, the exiled dauphin louis xi, the strozzi family, Anselm Adorne, the dyeing industry and how alum was a big deal, all that jazz
on ch 23
it is kind of cool to be on a cruise ship bound for hiroshima while lounging in bed reading a book that is talking about the drama going on between the king ferrante in naples, the medicis, the duke of burgundy
wait a minute are Katelina and Claes about to get it on in #HouseOfNiccolo (ch20). These are much more graphic descriptions than of #LymondChronicles
a difference of going from 30s to 60s #DorothyDunnett
I enjoy, thus far, how much more self-talk we have access to w Claes in book 1 of #HouseOfNiccolo compared to #LymondChronicles book 1
"So, Claes, you need discipline for two. Let’s see how you master all this."
The moral lesson from #DorothyDunnett: if you like girls and like talking to them and listening you will be smart like Claes. If you don't then you will be teped like Julius. On Ch 20.
it is kind of cute how Tilde and Catherine fight for Claes's attention
I love how Dunnett mentions over and over again how often women choose Claes. On ch 15 so far. And I loved the convo Tobias had w Claes where he's like "I see you!" so fun, a little mini-version of a trial/exposition.
Ok ngl when #HouseOfNiccolo mentions a bald-head physician named Tobias I'm reminded of that guy from Arrested Development (the guy played by David Cross)
Marian de Charetty seems like a boss lady
'First the creak, the groan, the thud of the windmills. Then the long portal-arches into the city which trapped the jingle and clatter of stamping horses and the squeak and thunder of cartwheels and the din of country voices.'
soundscapes we lost #DorothyDunnett
Ch 4 impressions: one gets a sense that Claes is on purpose needling Simon and it is a delight to see since Simon is just awful. I think he picked the most awful boat on purpose. I even suspect Claes knew Mabelie and Simon were hooking up based on body language.
Barely on chapter 2 but the charge Dunnett loaded is Claes smiled at Mabelie and mentioned he has a bewitching smile so I guess they'll have a romp soon eh? Easy way for DD to tell us Claes is attractive and magnetic.
My guess is that Claes is very beautiful but people don't remember his face because they can tell he no one important, just a cute serving boy. Just finished ch1 of HoN (yes yes I know I still need to finish CM of LC)
